Sleeping Beauty

Yesterday afternoon while playing on her mat, Lyla just could NOT stay awake. She didn't even want to let go of her toys. Too precious not to share.

Christmas Tree

Lyla woke up from her morning nap to find the Christmas tree up and partially decorated. She wasn't sure what to think at first but then she couldn't take her eyes off of it. These are just the first of many pictures of "Lyla's first Christmas."

Happy Birthday Seth!

Granny and Papa can't get enough of Lyla

Does Lyla look like Daddy in this picture, or what?

Seth kept talking to Lyla while she was eating (trying to keep her awake) and she kept pushing his face away and playing with his mouth

A busy weekend

Between Thanksgiving, our 6th anniversary and Seth's birthday (today)...this is a busy time of year for us. Lyla has been a trooper, though. She is also getting so much better with her rice cereal--such a quick learner! Enjoy pictures and video from the past few days!

Lyla and Jamie
Notice that Jamie knows exactly where the burp cloth goes--she LOVES holding Lyla. Lyla's cousin, Maisie fed her but somehow we missed getting a picture of it.

Lyla's 1st taste of mashed potatoes. I think she prefers them to rice cereal.

Checking out the sales with Daddy
No, we didn't brave the crowds this year.

Zonked out on the car ride home

Bundled to go across the backyard to Teresa's while we celebrated our anniversary

Isn't he handsome?

She is so strong--this is usually how we find her after sleeping.

Yum, rice...

Getting the hang of it!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

We decided Thanksgiving was the perfect day for Lyla's first rice cereal meal. We attempted somewhere around ten spoonfuls before she started pulling away. The doctor said not to force it...just keep trying a little at a time. She mostly pushed the spoon out of her mouth with her tongue but I heard her swallow at least once. We'll just keep trying until she gets the hang of it. Much to my disappointment, the video isn't posting--it has shown an error twice now. I'll try again but for now pictures of the aftermath will have to do.

Hope you have a very Happy Thanksgiving and have safe travels.

First Cold

Lyla had her first cold this past week. In fact, all three of us had some form of it. I think we are all close to full recovery so that's good. A couple of things you should know about Lyla: First of all, she LOVES sneezing. She smiles every time she does it. I guess she thinks it's funny. Second, she learned very quickly that coughing gets attention so half the time she is faking it. That's right--my four-month old is faking a cough to get attention! She will do this pitiful "cough" up to 7 or 8 times in a row and then look at you a smile. At this age, we can't help but laugh but one day it's not going to be funny. If anyone wants to send her "The Boy Who Cried Wolf," that'd be great. Took these pictures and video last night as we were changing her for bed. Another thing--Lyla also thinks it's fun to try to get her hand in her mouth while we are trying to get that hand in/out of the sleeve. Hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!

One more video from this morning...I was trying to capture "the cough"

Emily & Brady's Wedding

Here are the pictures from my cousin, Brady's wedding. Lyla was so good before, during and after the wedding. During the ceremony Seth held her in the lobby while she slept. And she didn't seem to mind be passed around all night either.

Wonder if she'll keep those beautiful blue eyes

Funny Faces

Don't have much to say but I thought you would enjoy seeing new pictures. I will brag on my angel of a baby--through several unavoidable circumstances Lyla had to go with me to the dentist this week. She just sat in her car seat looking around and smiled at anyone who spoke to her. It was so wonderful! I can't tell you how glad I am that the trip to GA broke her of her car seat anxiety. Whew. That's about it. Enjoy the pictures and have a great weekend!

Four Months

Lyla had her Four Month check up and shots today. She handled all three shots so well! Once they were over, she perched up on Daddy's shoulder and calmed right down. She weighs 13 lb 9 oz and measures 25.25 inches long so she has gained just over 6 pounds and grown exactly 5 inches since birth! He says everything looks good and she is right on target. He also said we can feel free to start her on rice cereal any time now. I bet you can't wait to see the pictures/video of that, can you? We'll pick some up next trip to the store...so check back later. In other news, Lyla is still sleeping pretty well at night with the occasional rough night here and there. I can't complain. She hasn't been wanting to nap for more than 45 minutes at a time for a couple weeks now but this morning she took a good nap so maybe she is getting back into the swing of things. Of course, she is snoozing right now but that is probably the baby tylenol at work. That's about it for now.

Rollin', Rollin', Rollin'...

Lyla has been sleeping on her tummy for a few weeks now so we knew she could roll over but we hadn't witnessed it yet. Well she put on a little show for Seth last night while I was at a wedding (with the camera, of course). He did take some video with his phone, though. After waiting and watching with camera in hand, I finally caught her in the act. She hasn't quite mastered getting herself up onto her elbows yet nor has she figured out how to roll back over but she's getting there. In fact, a lot of times we know she is awake in the morning because she is fussing for us to roll her back over. I hope you notice her little grin just before she goes for it...it's almost as if she is saying, "you watchin', mom? 'Cause here I go!"

Alphabet Soup

We are still adding things here and there to Lyla's nursery but I thought you might like to see how it looks right now. The theme of the bedding is Alphabet Soup but just last night, Seth put up her little white shelf so she can have a "pink" section of keepsakes. The white dress was mine when I was a baby. It is too small for Lyla...and knowing how big I was when I was born makes it hard to imagine myself ever wearing it either. Nonetheless, it looks pretty hanging with the other pieces.

I couldn't post without a picture of Lyla, could I?
