Spay-ghetti Dinner, April 24
Lyla's troop had an opportunity to help serve at a Spay-ghetti Dinner Fundraiser for our local
No-Kill Shelter. They were hostesses and their job was to greet guests, carry their napkin and utensils, sometimes their salad bowl, and walk them to their seat.
The girls had a lot of fun serving others (and earned a patch)!
Pinning Ceremony, April 27
The pinning ceremony was supposed to have happened in the fall, but our troop leader decided to hold off until after the Fall Sales Program. The troop would get 15% of all sales, but Patty allowed the girls to keep 10% of their personal sales and use it towards the purchase of their uniform. (Lyla sold over $200 which meant she earned enough to cover 2/3 the cost of her uniform.) I love that the girls earned their uniforms. Such a cool lesson.

Overnight at Camp Shawano, May 2/3
What do you get when you add 1 Troop Leader, 4 Moms, 5 Daisies, and 1 Brownie? A whole lot of fun (and very little sleep)!Who knew we had an amazing Girl Scout Camp practically in our back yard? We stayed in a lodge on the campgrounds so it wasn't roughing it or anything, but we cooked by the fire, hung our dishes on a tree to dry, roasted s'mores, and hiked. The Daisies worked really hard and earned a Journey badge along with a couple of other activity patches!

The girls were supposed to agree on an item in nature to collect. They chose tree moss, but they also learned that you aren't allowed to disturb nature or take anything living from it. So, they took a picture with the tree moss instead.
A quick game of tag. This was probably their favorite thing to do all weekend--just chase each other.
They didn't want to take a picture, but I made a deal. One happy one...

The girls learned a new blessing for their meal. It involved banging on their cup or bowl. They loved it, of course.

The girls made paint out of fruits and veggies--this was blueberries. They were all expecting blue paint, and were surprised it was purple.
They painted (water-colored) with blueberries, carrots, beets, spinach, and coffee grounds
