July Wrap-Up (Part 2)!

We checked off several "Summer Bucket List" items in July! You will see this symbol
(√) when an item was checked off of our list

The Aviation Museum of Kentucky near Bluegrass Airport
(√)

Pretending to fly a helicopter

 and a plane, of course

Watching a private plan taxi for take-off

I had parked Rex's stroller facing away from the planes because of the sun

Danny wanted to make sure Rex could see, though, and asked to turn him around

Such a fun day with good friends!
We went to Orange Leaf afterward for a cool treat!

Lyla had 6 roly poly pets that she kept all summer.

She finally decided it was time to release them

Lyla and Aiden played water games (√) while I washed my car

Aiden wasn't intentionally spraying her in the face--it was pretty funny

Then I started my very first fire and we roasted s'mores! (√)

Then we caught fireflies (√) and got eaten by mosquitoes...which wasn't on our list, but happened OFTEN.

Granny kept Rex so Seth and I could take Lyla fishing (√) out on the boat

Daddy teaching Lyla all about fishing

 They caught one!

It was special time with our girl. Pouring rain cut our trip short. Lyla and I only got a little wet, but Seth got soaked loading the boat up. Granny was waiting at the door with towels for him.

Hiked (√) in the Tom Dorman Nature Preserve

Lyla was covering her head to avoid spider webs

 Danny kept us safe

My first hike with Rex in the hiking pack we are borrowing

We stopped for a snack break and apparently left one of Rex's socks at this spot. Oops

We were all tired and ready to finish our hike, but I kept Rex smiling by getting him in the face with his burp cloth

Lyla was a trooper, but made it clear she didn't want to hike again any time soon

On our way to our family reunion, we stopped in North Carolina for an overnight stay with our great friends, the Larsens!

Seth helped reach some green beans that were too high up

So thankful for Andrea and her family. She is such an amazing person.

Lyla and Sophia are growing up way too fast!

We arrived in Georgia (√) for my dad's family reunion where Rex's twin cousins, Justin and Jesse, baffled him.

This picture makes me laugh because everyone appears to be so focused on Rex who is just eating.

 Second cousins, Brooke and Lyla

They have both changed a lot since the reunion last summer

The original six Hunt siblings: Wayne, Bobby, George, Sara, Charles, and Farris

We had a good sized group this year!

My dad was proud to have so many of his family there.

Glad Lyla and Rex got some quality time with two out of three of their Georgia cousins

We conclude the awesome month of July with this sweet picture of Rex and Lyla just hanging out on Lyla's bed.

July Wrap-Up (Part 1)!

Our Rainy July 4th!

The kids led worship the Sunday morning VBS kicked off.
I love seeing Lyla lost in worship.

Aiden's dad happened to see some baby frogs in their yard while he was mowing

Lyla wanted to keep it, of course. She did not, though.

Lyla wanted to camp out the night before her 6th birthday--my improvised tent

She came and joined me in bed--something she used to do, but hasn't in a LONG time

 Opening some of her gifts

 She loved her new frame

and knew the perfect picture to put in it-Tina, Lyla, and I at Tina's wedding last year

Reading her new Tag book--Scooby Doo!

 I made homemade donut holes

They were a little overcooked, but we ate them anyway!

Our local library had their Summer Reading Party on Lyla's birthday so she got to see all of her friends AND play in the fountain in front of our new county courthouse

She couldn't have asked for a happier birthday!

Maria let Rex check out the water

 He was unimpressed

Rex didn't mind dancing in the puddles

 A birthday treat from McD's!

We arrived home to find her birthday gift from Mimi & DDaddy had arrived!

She had been saving her own money to buy the Barbie Mermaid doll.
DDaddy wanted her to spend her money on something else instead.

She also got "Rise of the Guardians"--one of her favorite movies

She was SO excited about her new doll!

The next day, Lyla and Aiden went swimming at Teresa's

Lyla has gotten to be so comfortable in the water this summer. I'm so proud of her.

Suzanne surprised Lyla after VBS and took her to Brewster's for a birthday treat!

Apparently, Lyla had wanted the blue ice cream, but then traded with Suzanne

Our church hosted a Cornhole Tournament as a missions fundraiser. My parents were in town for Lyla's birthday so Dad and I competed. We lost in the first round, though. Oh, well.

Rex thinks it's fun to get his sock stuck on his bottom teeth.

Lyla actually requested this picture with me! That NEVER happens!

These two have such a special bond.

Mimi got some snuggle time with Rex while...

DDaddy took Lyla swimming at Teresa's

We were sad to see Mimi and DDaddy head back to Georgia, but would see them again for our family reunion later that month

Up Next...July Wrap-Up (Part 2)!
