Ice Skating!

December 23
Lexington's indoor ice skating center opens an outdoor rink downtown during the holidays. We chose a day after we had had a big rain storm which had it's pros and cons. Pro: we had the rink to ourselves. Con: there were lots of puddles.

Lyla had a rough start and fell in one of the above-mentioned puddles. The owner let her dry off by their space heater and gave her a good peptalk.

Jamie had been several times before and looked like a pro compared to the rest of us

She was so sweet helping Lyla

Lyla built up her confidence and let go of the wall!

Karley, Lyla, and Jamie

I had a fun day with these girls while Rex spent the day with Aunt KK

Karen and I were proud of ourselves for not falling

Jamie took lots of pictures of me in hopes that she could capture a fall on film

Lyla removed one layer of soaking wet pants and her wet socks.
Next time we'll bring a change of clothes.

PJ & Other Christmas-y Stuff

I didn't get a picture of every day and these are in no particular order

PJ brought Lyla a special cookie

Rex saw this and said, "Peekaboo!"

In case you don't know this little tidbit--human hands cannot touch the elves or they lose their magic and can't fly to the North Pole every night. When PJ got knocked over, Seth offered to pick him up and Lyla FREAKED out. It was a hilarious!

In Lyla's Wild Hearts 5K glass

PJ didn't realize we were having waffles for breakfast one morning

Seth moved him to a different location so we could have the good syrup and not try to share a small bottle of Cracker Barrel syrup Lyla found in the fridge.

 Ninja PJ

Lyla donated a game to the Fire Fighters' Toy Drive

 In Rex's room

PJ brought a kit and held a note that said, "Wanna bake today?"

PJ sat next to Baby Jesus on Christmas Eve. He's so smart.

 Our beautiful tree!

We stumbled onto a Shirley Temple marathon and the kids were completely sucked in

Our small town, Fire Fighter Santa!!

Teacher Gifts, Christmas Parade & Lyla's School Christmas Activities

December 8
Teacher Gifts!
Lyla helped me make sugar scrub for the women and crockpot candy for the men.

December 13
Nicholasville had Christmas festivities all day, but we just made it for the Christmas parade

Rex was not happy about being in his stroller to begin with.
The fire truck sirens REALLY made him want out of the stroller and in my arms.

 Excited to see Suzanne!

December 17
Camp Dick Robinson's Christmas Program

Rex loved all of the music. He clapped and yelled, "woohoo!" after every song.

December 18
Camp Dick Robinson's Bobcat Express

This is what happens when you tell the PTO "I think I can get an elf costume."
You end up being a storytelling elf at the Christmas fundraiser event.

December 19
Rex's occupational therapy session was cancelled so we got to go to Lyla's class party!

This picture and the next several were taken by Lyla

They had a $5 book exchange. Poor girl got an Elmo book. She handled it really well and gave the book right to Rex who loved it. Rex and I visited our local library after the party and I mentioned it to the library. We have known Ms. Michele since Lyla was Rex's age. I was just making small talk while I printed what I need to. Michele went upstairs and came back with a stack of books for me to choose one for her. Ms. Michele said "I want Lyla to get a new book for Christmas, too." So sweet. We love our small town library!

Rex wanted out of the stroller where he had stayed throughout the party.

Lyla loves her teacher, Ms. Preston.
