Cover Girl
Lyla had her six month pictures today. She was a little sleepy so the first few are simply blank stares at the camera. The photographer was trying EVERYTHING but Lyla just looked at her as if to say "is that the best you can do?" Finally, the stuffed dog did the trick and she was all smiles. As you can see, her tongue made several appearances, too. This is just a sampling of the many great pictures--of course I am not biased but they are ALL great, if you ask me. In the first one Lyla is wearing my Christening gown. It fit her perfectly and I was proud to see her in it. Ten bucks says my mom cries...

Snow Day
I was beginning to be jealous of my parents in GA because they have had more snow than we have had this year! Our day has finally come. It's just 1-2 inches but it is still beautiful! I thought I would post several pictures/stories from the past week. Enjoy!
LANE & LYLA are best buddies. He is so good with her...and vice versa so far. Once during this particular playtime, Lyla grabbed at Lane's hair but he didn't react--his eyes just got big and he looked at me for help.

LYLA is learning to use a sippy cup. She has been holding and controlling her bottle lately so we thought we would give it a try. She's a little young to make the transition 100% but she is a fast learner. She started coughing at first (getting used to the faster flow), Seth tried to take it from her while she coughed but she held tight and popped it back in right away. So strong-willed it's scary.
QUIET doesn't mean SLEEP. Lyla had been fussing a little when she went down for her morning nap yesterday and then it stopped. Ahh...didn't last long at all. I checked her on the video monitor and could only see her bumper pad. I ran to her room only to find this. She was having a big time, wasn't she? (Rest assured all the ties are KNOTTED now.) Just wait til this little girl is mobile!

BANANA OATMEAL is Lyla's latest food. So far, so good. Not only does she grab at her bottle but she is grabbing at her spoon now, too.

LYLA'S FIRST SNOW--since it's a little cold to drag her out in it for pictures, Lane took one for the team.

Tickle, Tickle
Seth found Lyla's ticklish spot the other night...her back! She'll grin and squirm when you tickle her feet, belly, legs, etc but you can tell that her back is really sensitive. Enjoy!

Family Walk
Kristie, Maisie and Jamie came to visit today. We played, relaxed, watched a movie and even went for a walk. Kentucky weather can be so unpredictable--it could potentially snow this week yet today was nice enough for a walk. Who knew Lyla would wear her shades for the very first time in January?!

Sleepy Singing
Lyla likes to "sing" to let us know when she is sleepy or hungry. It starts kinda sweet and polite but if you don't take her warnings seriously, like the flip of a switch--the singing turns to screaming. Enjoy her polite music...
p.s. I have no idea what she is looking at at the end

Six Months
I can't believe Lyla is already six months old. In some ways, the time has flown by but in other ways it seems like she should be older than that. Does that make any sense? Oh, well. She is getting stronger every day and is even learning to sit up on her own. She still needs to be "spotted" but she is getting very close. As some friends pointed out tonight, if she doesn't have a toy to play with...she'll FIND a toy. The remote control seems to be the most intriguing to her these days. She hears "no ma'am" a lot for that one. She doesn't play on her back for long anymore but prefers to roll all over the place. It is no longer safe for Lyla to lay on her mat on the bed while I work on the computer. Don't panic--I have always kept a close eye on her and had her "barricaded" but she is getting to be very sneaky and it's too risky. So, the exersaucer has been brought into the office for now. She is eating oatmeal now and seems to like it just fine. We plan to start her on fruits and veggies after her 6-month appointment next week which will be fun. So, Happy Half-Birthday to Lyla! She's a Talker
Well, it is no surprise that Lyla talks all the time. She is with me ALL day so she was bound to pick it up sometime but not this soon. Yep, she woke us up last night "talking" in her sleep. We heard noises through the monitor; they weren't unhappy noises--more like the noises she makes when she is playing in her crib. We let it go hoping she would go back to sleep but the noises weren't stopping so I got up to check on her. She appeared to be sound asleep but sighing and singing away. Her face was down and she wasn't in distress at all so I let her be and went back to bed. Well, her noises woke us up a little later and I finally stuck her paci in just so we could get some sleep. Seth said she is just like me...just wants to talk even if no one is around to listen.

Best Part of Waking Up...
If you think Folgers is how that statement ends, you are wrong. Seeing this FACE is better than any caffeine you can give me. I am fighting a sinus infection right now so I'm back to napping when she naps these days. Her little noises are the best alarm to wake me up off the couch. I tried to video tape them but it was way too dark. Here's a picture, though. (She spit up a little bit--that's what is on her face.)

Happy New Year!
We had some friends from church over for a White Elephant party last night. Seth and I made out like bandits! Lyla was naturally the life of the party. She slept from about 9 to 10:15 but was in it for the long haul after that. I'm pretty sure everyone held her at some point and she even wore a party hat or two. We had a lot of fun and are so thankful for the wonderful year with family and friends. Most of all, we are so blessed that 2007 brought us little Lyla Claire! Hope everyone had a safe and Happy New Year!

Looking forward to another good year
