Accents

I don't really know what to say about this video. Lyla did this all on her own and I have no idea what prompted it. I guess it's safe to say she has gotten her mother's gift for speaking in various dialects.

Pumpkin Patch, Pumpkin Painting, Fall Festival

PUMPKIN PATCH FIELD TRIP

 

Thanks to Granny keeping Rex, I was able to go with Lyla on her field trip to the Pumpkin Patch!

The originally scheduled trip was rained out but it worked in our favor because this day was perfect!

Each parent volunteer was responsible for their child plus one.
Lyla's sweet friend, "M", hung out with us all day.

I guess we'll have to go back to Georgetown next fall to see how she has grown!

Then turn the crank to send it to the top level for the goats up there.
It was hard work for a little girl!

These girls wore themselves out in these big pipes

The basketballs wouldn't roll down the net on their own so Lyla helped a grown-up (on the other side) move them back down. Love the action shot.

They were a fun bunch

There were two haunted houses. Lyla is like her mom and doesn't like haunted houses that much.
She went through the first one with her friends but they had all turned back on our first attempt through the 2nd one.
In the above picture, they are "psyching" themselves out by chanting "don't be scared" as they walked toward the 2nd house to try it again.
Once inside, Lyla turned back again. Fine with me.
We played outside while the other girls went through with another parent.

PUMPKIN PAINTING

They carved a pumpkin at school and Lyla came home saying they were "slimy"

She didn't want to carve pumpkins--just paint them. No complaints here.

FALL FESTIVAL

The festival at Lyla's school was right after ballet and Lyla wanted to wear her leotard.

She hit the star on the first try at Plinko

Lyla didn't quite understand what the Book Walk and Cake Walk were about at first.

And when she didn't win anything, she was very confused.

Finally, she won at the cake walk and picked this colorful cake!
We took it with us to Georgia the next day.

Next up...Our trip to Georgia!

As we walked to the car after voting, Lyla asked, "That's it? You just vote one time?" 

She wanted to help me color in the bubbles but settled for feeding the sheet into the machine for me.

*Rex was with us, too, but he was practically asleep when we got home. No picture of him in a sticker...yet.*

Better Late than Never

 

Josh and Seth have been friends since middle school (I think). 

Before kids came along, we used to see each other more often but I am sorry to say that we haven't gotten together since Josh and Sarah's son, Carter, was born...and he turns 2 this month. After months years of saying "we really need to get together," we finally made it happen!

 Lyla loved playing with Carter

 Poor Carter slipped on the stairs and bumped his chin just before this which is why he was enjoying his paci which is usually reserved for bedtime.

 Some tickling helped him forget about his chin for a little while, though

 Carter loved playing peek-a-boo with his new friend, Seth

We plan to get together next month and will NOT allow two years to go by this time!

"Abs of Steel"

Thanks to 6 weeks in the Pavlik Harness, Rex has a little catching up to do when it comes to muscular development. He is working hard, though, and getting stronger every day!
