Pre-Baby Family Pictures (35 Weeks)

Erin was kind enough to take a few pictures of our family before Baby Boy arrives next month.

I love this one. It just cracks me up because I don't think Lyla has done that before.

I'm making a funny face but with me cropped out, it's a really cute picture of these two

Always love the candid shots

Hope Lyla adjusts to sharing Mommy & Daddy after almost 5 years of being an only child.

Erin was trying to figure out lighting when a bird surprised me by flying out of a nest behind me

35 Weeks

She loves him now...wait til he breaks her toys

When Seth feels awkward or posed...his silly side comes out

Lyla's brother will be here before we know it!

Thanks, as always, Erin for capturing such great pictures!

The Old Gang

What a difference (almost) a year makes!

Taken April 16, 2011

Since that time, Dave & Erin have moved to Nashville...then to Murfreesboro, Carly Jo was born, we have found a new church home and have a baby boy on the way. Our little group may not get together as often as we once did but when we do get together, we just pick up where we left off.

Lyla handed out instruments creating a band. She was the lead singer.

Lyla loves snuggling with her Shawn

 This cracks me up.

Barefoot in March

Gotta love barefoot swinging in March

Big news from our backyard:
Lyla has learned to pump her legs on the swing!

All she needs...

is one BIG push...

and she's off!

This is where you will find us almost every day right after Lyla gets off the bus

Lyla had to run inside to use the restroom and Lane waited patiently for her to come back out.
He never took his eyes off the back deck.

Then she ran right past him. Poor guy.

Yes, we are loving all the outdoor time!

It's gonna be a great spring and summer!

Super Landscaper!

She had her tools and was ready to help!

She loved helping with all of the weeds

but was not happy when we considered "clover" to be weeds.

She (and I) got tired of messing with the weeds and took a break

This girls LOVES hopscotch

We are enjoying this 80 degree weather in mid-March

Who's Counting?

We love our waffle iron. Our favorite recipe so far is Krusteaz' Apple Spice Waffles. Ours are even better (I  think) because we use Granny's homemade apple sauce. On this particular morning, though, we just went with your basic waffle. The iron makes 4 so that meant 1 for Lyla, 2 for me and 1 for another day. Plus, some mix left over for another day, too. Lyla looked at our two plates and asked "why do you get 2 waffles?" I replied, "because I'm a grown-up." She thought for a minute and said, "Dad usually doesn't eat 2." Hmph. Who taught this kid to count? That's what I want to know. For the record (yes, I feel this is valuable information), the last time we had waffles, I made the Apple Spice Waffles which are pretty rich and yes, each of us only ate 1. Basic waffles aren't as rich, though. Just thought you should have all of the data before you judge me...the PREGNANT woman.

Lyla requested that her waffle be topped with apple sauce and syrup. Yum.

Rapunzel and "The Face"

Aunt Alison gave Lyla two of these pink scarves. It didn't take Lyla long to transform one of them into Rapunzel hair! I was wearing the other one as a sash since none of her dress-up clothes fit me.

This picture cracks me up because it reminds me of a recent story in the news. If you don't live under a rock, you have probably seen this Alabama freshman, Jack Blankenship. This guy printed a giant picture of himself making what is now known as "the face" and holds it up to distract the opposing basketball team when players are shooting free throws. He's even taken it on the road from Alabama to a New York Knicks game. I think it's hilarious. I have NO idea what caused Lyla to make this face and she is way cuter doing it, of course. I just couldn't help making the connection, though.
