Brownie Investiture Ceremony

February 8

I finally got all of Lyla's earned badges and activity patches attached to her Brownie sash just in time for her Brownie Investiture Ceremony.

Lyla volunteered to lead her troop in saying The Girl Scout Law.
Very proud my Brownie!

MOPS Retreat

February 6-8

14 Moms got a weekend away at this beautiful home in Louisville.

We had Bible study, fellowship, and we SHOPPED!

I don't have many pictures, but you can imagine the fun we had!

It was a great time to recharge and get to know some awesome women!

Her Poor Foot

Lyla complained that her foot was hurting. She was hobbling and hopping around on it.

This was what I found when I checked on her before going to bed.

This must have worked magic because it was fine the next day.

100th Day of School!

Lyla wanted to put 100 seeds on her shirt. We had sunflower seeds/kernels on hand. She drew the numbers with the glue and we stuck them on together. They didn't stick very well, though, Hot glue might have worked better, but I wanted us to do it together.

Waiting on Daddy...

Rex has never cared for suckers because he doesn't like sticky things.

He found one in Daddy's truck, though, and thought he would give it another try.
I love his mischievous grin.

He unwrapped it, took 5 or 10 licks then said, "all done."

Do You Want to Build a Snowman?

January 24
One weekend, we're outside in light jackets and the next we are playing in the snow!

 5 INCHES!

It was perfect snowman and snowball-making snow!

She decided against a snowman and just kept rolling it into a giant ball

I kept working on my snowman, though.

I was a kid again and it felt great!

Rocks and mulch pieces for his face and buttons

January 25

She decided to build one of her own the next day

Check out the stick she found for a pipe!

More January Outdoor Fun!

January 18 & 19

When Rex woke up from his nap after church, Lyla and Seth were outside flying the kite.

We went outside for a little while, but it was too windy. I told Seth we could stay outside, but we had to get his coat and hat. He said, "no hat." He fussed when we went inside and stood at the door watching. I asked him again if he wanted to go outside. He looked ever his shoulder and said, "no outside, no hat."

Lyla taught herself to ride on two wheels just before Christmas! So proud of her!

Lyla asked Rex to walk with her. He yelled to me, "bye, Mom!" and off they went.

We are going to have so much fun this summer!

Handsome smile

Danny and Sam came over on MLK Day and enjoyed the unseasonably warm weather!

Stay tuned to see what the following weekend held...

Ariel Takes Flight

January 17
I bought this cheap, plastic Ariel kite for 0.25 at a yard sale when Lyla was 2 or 3.
We have sure gotten our money's worth out of it!

 Look at that focus!

It was a perfect day to fly a kite!

Open Gym!

January 16
Rex has been to open gym before, but usually as a tag-along with Lyla and her friends.
One Friday met some friends from MOPS and had a great time!

It's safe to say he had a blast!

He even got in a good workout with some chin-ups!
