Lyla's Preschool Pictures

This is kind of a delayed post...considering the pictures were taken last fall. I just got them after Christmas, though, because Lyla had to take make-up pictures. Back in September, when Lyla came home from school, I asked her about picture day and how it went. It went something like this...

Me: How did pictures go?
Lyla: Fine.
Me: Did you smile pretty?
Lyla: Yes.
(pause)
Lyla: I took a picture by myself but I didn't take one with the class.
Me: What? Why?
Lyla: <shrug>
Me: Did they take a class picture?
Lyla: No.

I was confused but didn't push it. The next day her teacher asked me if Lyla told me about picture day. I said, "yes, she did." Mrs. Stein proceeded to tell me that Lyla didn't take an individual picture. My reaction: "WHAT?!" Needless to say, I was shocked since Lyla told me the exact opposite the day before. Mrs. Stein said they tried everything; even let her watch all the other kids take a picture and go last. Nothing worked. I apologized to Mrs. Stein because I am sure that was very stressful for her. We talked about two very important issues that night: 1) Honesty. 2) Obeying your teacher. When we asked Lyla why she didn't take a picture, she simply shrugged and said, "I don't know...I just didn't want to."

The full class picture

After much discussion over the days leading up to "make-up" picture day, Lyla assured me that she would take a picture this time. I let her choose between two shirts then two hairbows so maybe she would feel a little control over the situation and be more excited.

Her first "school" picture.
Such a pretty girl.

They just took spring pictures a couple of weeks ago and sent home the proof this week. Haven't decided whether we'll buy any or not since NEXT week, she will take "Cap & Gown" pictures for Preschool Graduation.

Here's the proof of her spring picture.
What do you think?
It's crazy to see how much she has grown and changed from October to February!

"Seriously...Look!"

Seth taught Lyla a new game.
It's pretty simple but she thinks it's hilarious.
He points and says, "Lyla--look!"
Then he tickles her or gently bops her on the head.
(The 2nd half of that has been dangerous)

Refusing to look

She couldn't resist, though

Saying, "seriously, Mom...look!"

Silly face

Pretty smiles

A Taste of Winter

These pictures were taken just a week after the ones of Lyla swinging and sliding.
We didn't get much snow at all but Lyla didn't care.
She was so excited to see snow falling from the sky!
She was home sick with strep that week but I let her bundle up over her nightgown.
She picked the ladybug sunhat...I made her add the winter hat.

"ook, I aught uhn!"
(say the above statement with your tongue sticking out)

February 3rd?

We have had such a mild winter. I think Lyla's school has only had 1 snow day as opposed to something like 13 last year. While I am not a fan of the lack of frost has done for my allergies, you've gotta love playing outside in February. Pretty sure the groundhog doesn't know what he's talking about predicting 6 more weeks of winter.

TP Tower

Lyla loves "helping" me put away groceries. On this particular day,  I had asked her to put a few rolls of toilet paper in each bathroom. She got around to it eventually but had a little fun first.
